A hard habit to break

I have a habit..... sewing! Oh the piles of projects and fabric I own. There are so many cute ideas I can't wait to try out. If I have spare time, you will see me on the good old Bernina. Thank goodness I have girls to sew for because truthfully there is not that much to do for boys.

A few months ago I saw a darling dress in the window of a boutique and thought, I can make that! ( I posted it in an earlier post) I love the way it turned out. Savannah looks precious in it with a pink bow and pink shoes to match. You can't see it very well, but the pink tulle under the stripes is a fun detail. I wish I had more time to make a coordinating dress for Madison so they could wear them on Easter. Someday when my kids don't need me as much I would love to go into business. I have done small orders here and there. I love making others happy with my creations.
I made this skirt for a friend and decided to keep it, I just LOVE red. I think the flower on the shirt is too big but oh well.I copied this idea from a VERY CREATIVE friend, then found this fabric at Material Girls and walah, a fun summer outfit.
I had to throw these ones in for Grandma. She can sit up now!

Taco cake

Now that McKay is a scout, we were able to attend the annual Blue and Gold dinner in our ward( back in Feb.) The theme was fiesta, and the boys were assigned to decorate a cake for a contest. We chose to make a taco cake! I thought it turned out so cute. The lettuce is died coconut, the cheese is orange Starbursts, and the tomatoes are Nibs. He even won an award!

Another addition

My brother and sis-n-law are having a boy! We are so excited to have another addition to the Bennett clan. I had to make something for the little guy along with a few other gifts. A bib with a cute little tie!
Now on to some other projects I have in mind. I love these cute outfits by Mud Pie and am going to copy them and sew for Savannah. So darling! Girls are so fun!

One packed weekend!

I had been looking forward to this weekend for a long time! The blessing of Savannah and McKays' baptism. My parents and my sisters' family all drove up from Ca for the occasion. Chris' parents flew in from Tx, and his sister who lives in Boise drove down as well. My nephew who is a month younger than McKay(Chris' sisters' son) wanted to join us and be baptized on the same day! That way Chris' parents didn't have to make two trips! Since we are still in our townhouse waiting for the short sell to be completed, I didn't have a place to host everyone for lunch. I was really bummed, I love to entertain for special occasions.
Instead we all headed to the really exciting Chuck-a-rama where the "choice is yours."

My mom smocked and had sewn Savannahs' dress. I will get her pictures done and post those at a later date.

Chicken Enchilada Soup

This is some serious comfort food! I have made many soups with the mexican theme, and this is a winner!

3 carrots chopped
2 ribs celery chopped
1 onion chopped
2 T oil
8 C chicken broth
1 can Rotel tomatoes
1 pkg taco seasoning
10 small corn tortillas ripped a bit
2 T corn starch into 1 C water
1 C half and half
1 lb velveeta cheese
3 C chopped chicken
1 can black beans (drained and washed)
1 can corn (drained)

Saute veggies in oil till clear. Add the tomatoes, seasoning, and tortillas. Bring all ingred. to a boil and boil gently for 20 min. Use a wand blender if you have one and if not use your regular blender to puree all ingred.

Add the corn starch water and bring to a boil. Then add half and half and cheese. Don't boil the soup again or it will curdle. Add your mix ins.

Top with tortilla strips, fresh salsa, tomatoes, sour cream, avocado, and chopped cilantro.

Time to catch up!

Our Apple has been in a box for the last two months while we are renting month to month waiting for our short sell house to go through. Uggghh! Can I just say that short sales are lame! I asked Chris to please get it out of the box, and let me just say.... it is so nice to be back. I have missed blogging, so now it is time to catch up. Let's begin with Mckay's Birthday party!

On the day of McKay's birthday his teacher invited us to come to class before lunch and share stories about McKay and then let him pass out a treat to his classmates. We also surprised him with a happy meal to eat at lunch time. We do birthday parties every other year, and Madison and McKay wanted it to be at Boondocks. (McKay Jan 13th, Madison Jan 14th) So Chris and I took on the challenge of 8 friends plus our own kiddos. Here are a few pictures from McKay'sLightning McQueen birthday party!
