A California girl at heart

I had the privilege of going back home to Orange County for four days( WITHOUT KIDS, YES!) for my brother's blessing of their new baby Grey. Savannah got to be my little ball and chain for the trip which I didn't mind at all. Spending time with my family is always fun. We went to LA for some shopping, spent a day at the beach, time at the pool, Balboa Island, and a special day at church for the blessing of Grey. I am so grateful for my brother and sister. We enjoy each other very much and always have a great time. I so wish I could be closer to them. I will always be a California girl at heart, and hope to someday be back there. Perhaps, the thing I enjoyed most though was having some "me" time with some peace and quiet. Ahhhhhh.

My brother Stephen caught some great shots with his new camera at the beach.

Destin

I never thought that I would visit Florida since it is on the opposite side of the country from where I grew up. Destin is a great place for a family vacation. We rented a beach house in the middle of July with Steve(Chris' older brother) and Deanne. We had a great week full of fun. It was an eight hour drive to our destination, and it was worth it! Pool time, beach, snorkeling, parasailing, good food, relaxation, museums, watching movies, the fun park and ice cream drives were all part of our perfect get away!

8 months

Wow it has been awhile since I have blogged. Now that the kids are back in school, I'll be able to catch up. Here are Savannah's 8 month pictures. She is now 10 months though and is crawling and almost ready to walk! She makes our family very happy. She is nothing but pure joy!

A hard habit to break

I have a habit..... sewing! Oh the piles of projects and fabric I own. There are so many cute ideas I can't wait to try out. If I have spare time, you will see me on the good old Bernina. Thank goodness I have girls to sew for because truthfully there is not that much to do for boys.

A few months ago I saw a darling dress in the window of a boutique and thought, I can make that! ( I posted it in an earlier post) I love the way it turned out. Savannah looks precious in it with a pink bow and pink shoes to match. You can't see it very well, but the pink tulle under the stripes is a fun detail. I wish I had more time to make a coordinating dress for Madison so they could wear them on Easter. Someday when my kids don't need me as much I would love to go into business. I have done small orders here and there. I love making others happy with my creations.
I made this skirt for a friend and decided to keep it, I just LOVE red. I think the flower on the shirt is too big but oh well.I copied this idea from a VERY CREATIVE friend, then found this fabric at Material Girls and walah, a fun summer outfit.
I had to throw these ones in for Grandma. She can sit up now!

Taco cake

Now that McKay is a scout, we were able to attend the annual Blue and Gold dinner in our ward( back in Feb.) The theme was fiesta, and the boys were assigned to decorate a cake for a contest. We chose to make a taco cake! I thought it turned out so cute. The lettuce is died coconut, the cheese is orange Starbursts, and the tomatoes are Nibs. He even won an award!
